george cottage rooms

George Cottage is available as a stand alone cottage from £150.00 per night with a minimum two night let – the price drops to £100.00 per night for three nights or more.

George Cottage Sitting Room has two very comfy three-seater cream sofas, each covered by a reindeer skin, and one of them being a strong slatted sofa bed. There are logs for the open fire and more in the courtyard, which you are welcome to use during your stay.

A large mahogany tall boy contains a couple of sets of hot wheels for kids, and some colouring things, packs of cards, toys and games for smallish children. There are magazines on the table and a selection of books for older children.  During early spring and autumn and the summer too, sunshine streams in through the window during the day, making the room feel fresh and light.  The door leads straight out into the courtyard garden.

The Dining Room has a 1950′s retro feel with original 1950′s chairs and a large pastel painting by Nell Nile.  The glass table can seat 8 if pulled away from the wall.  There are wooden toddler toys at floor level and a wooden noah’s arc too.  There is a full set of turquoise, white and gold china and serving dishes in the glass fronted cabinet.  A door leads straight into the sitting room and the dining room sits between this and the kitchen.

The Kitchen, whilst being long and thin, is definately more than a galley, with a washing machine and a dishwasher and all you might need for eating in or out, or picnicking in the forest.  There is also a great selection of cookery books, cocktail shakers and bar equipment and some baking things for rainy day fun with kids.

The Bathroom is small but perfectly formed – with fresh white tongue and groove on all the walls, a steel bath, a vintage style Waverley hand wash basin and wc.

The Vintage Rose Double Bedroom upstairs has a double bed & small pine tables each side of the bed.

A vintage smock hangs over the bed and the curtains are made from vintage Old Rose 100% linen cloth, and there is a wall hanging of old linen to continue the theme.

The bench also has Old Rose cushions, and a ‘bunk’ ladder leads up to the ‘mezzanine’ single bed behind curtains – more suitable for children, though it is a full size bed if required for adults.  There are plenty of cupboards for storing belongings whilst staying.

Finally – The Bird of Paradise Double Room – featuring vintage french Birds of Paradise curtains and cushions, limited edition Habitat chairs by the beds and an old fashioned rocking horse.  There is also a single bed enabling the room to be used as a double, twin or family room, and there is a large pine wardrobe with plenty of hangers for three if required.

If George Cottage is hired as part of the big house, The General Stores, (www.millendmitcheldean.co.uk) then the large wooden door set into the adjoining wall between George cottage courtyard and the top lawn of the mai house is opened, and guests have use of all General Stores facilities – including hot tub, infra red sauna, steam sauna, pool table and cocktail bar.  If it is not rented as part of the whole property, this door is kept locked and access is only via the dog leg path onto Stars Pitch, down onto Mill end and round into the New St entrance of the General Stores.
